I have had total Knee replacement. My right knee was replaced a year ago and my left knee was replaced a little over three months ago. I have just returned from shopping around Stamford. I didn't try to park close to town but I used to park as close as possible. I didn't notice getting out of the car as my joints are not painful. I hardly noticed standing in the bank for 15 minutes when before my knees were replaced I would have to fetch a chair. The replacements have utterly changed my life. I am back to swimming and canoeing, both of which sports I stopped because of the pain of bending my knees to the side. I still have pain in my left calf but I went through this with my right knee and now that pain has stopped. On a recent canal holiday I didn't jump off the narrow-boat at locks because I still don't have the confidence I could do this without damage, but that's what my grandchildren enjoyed and, of course its why I invited them (but don't mention that to them). I also had very bowed legs before the operations. Mr. Clifton straightened them and and I and my wife are very happy with the result. I think that it is probably the realignment of my legs that have lead to pain in my calves as the muscles adjust but I know that pain goes. You can see from what I have said that I am very happy with the result. I was very careful to exercise after the operations and purchased a pedal exerciser, the type that is used while sitting on a chair. The bend of the knees is adjusted by adjusting the gap between the exerciser and the chair. I can use it while watching the television and in just a few weeks was able to bend my knees more than I had been able to for several years. I recommend anyone undergoing this operation to get an exerciser. They cost as little as £20. Perhaps these could be lent to patients. The care at the hospital was great with very kind staff. I could not be more delighted.

Mr Clifton was very friendly and confidence inspiring. He explained the pros and cons of my procedure and took an interest in my after care. I would recommend him to anyone requiring knee surgery.

I have received two total knee replacements in the past four months. Both experiences were better than expected. I was very apprehensive before the first procedure but the team and Mr Clifton put me totally at ease. There was a lot of pain but I was told there would be and the pain relief provided was very good. The aftercare with the physiotherapy is vital as you meet likewise people and can discuss issues which really puts your mind at ease. Mr Clifton visited me not long after each surgery and told me everything was as expected and everything went well. My stay at the Fitzwilliam was very pleasant and the staff were excellent. Less than two months after the last replacement and I am in no arthritic pain anymore! the second knee is recovering quicker than the first - I can thoroughly recommend if you need new knees get them. I cant thank Mr Clifton enough he has given my life back. Thankyou

I saw Mr Clifton after suffering a complete rupture of my ACL and meniscus tear in a basketball game. He operated giving me an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair and less than 6 months after the operation my physio has got me running and jumping again. Great communication and result, as someone that is very active I am forever grateful. Thank you Mr Clifton.

Mr Clifton and his staff were all friendly and helpful they also kept asking if we had any questions, he also told me that it would be very painful sadly he was correct but when you can begin to use your legs properly again it is all worth whiie, I have not ben able to walk far for 5 years and now after a weeks I can tell a difference in the pain already.
